About me
My name is Torsten Franz. I'm living in Lüneburg, Germany. I have made my first steps with Linux in 2001 with Debian on server in a little company. In 2006 I installed Ubuntu for the first time and since that time I use Ubuntu as my operating system on my private hardware. Ubuntu is for me a way of life that I thematize both in private life and in my career over again. I get many friends in this great community. I am proud to make a contribution to help ensure that this community holds to its core values and grows.

Future Goals
When I present Ubuntu I want to show users that Ubuntu is more than an operating system, namely, a philosophy. This is an important point for me, I will pick up again in the future.
The Community of Ubuntu is an important aspect. I try to support it and integrate people into this community. I want to help people to find their own place in the world of Ubuntu. I do this in a servant leadership.

I know Torsten for several years now. He is a very energetic and commited person for Ubuntu in the German community. He does quite a lot things in a very good way. Pretty much he is one of the guys I would like to see as Ubuntu members: involved, hard-working and contributing to either Ubuntu as philosophy and to the distribution of the operating system.
Till Mossakowski
I know Torsten since 2006, when we co-organised a social forum in Bremen and then founded a group with the subject of friendly technology and solidarity economics. We discussed several projects, and eventually decided to start a group on easing the installation and use of free software, in particular Ubuntu, and founded the Communtu project. From this, I know Torsten as a person who is at the same time very communicative, committed and reliable. He suggested the software framework that the group is using, and did also a lot of programming. Moreover, his humor and social skills were very important in our weekly face-to-face discussions. Personally, I find it a pity that he has left Bremen, such that contact is held by less face-to-face meetings and more online discussions and teleconferences... Anyway, Torsten provides an invaluable contribution to the German Ubuntu community. He is one of those who have deeply understood that free software is only possible via cooperation. Moreover, I always like to listen to him in order to learn about the most recent Ubuntu developments.
Christian Loosli (Fuchs)
I know Torsten for some years, we work together in the team of the German ubuntuusers portal. He helped in several teams and is currently in the project lead team. I know him as a committed person who works hard for Ubuntu and especially for the community. I think that with his kindness and his will to help others he is a perfect representation of what ubuntu stands for.
Florian Apolloner
I know Torsten for quite a while now and am really amazed how much time and energy he puts into Ubuntu. Be it as developer for Communtu, as project lead at ubuntuusers.de or while organizing events, he is always helpful and considerate. He is certainly one of the persons which still take the Ubuntu CoC and the philosophy behind Ubuntu itself seriously -- something which tends to get forgotten to easily nowadays. That said, I'd really like to see him as Ubuntu member!
Bernhard Hanakam (Jiraiya)
Torsten is my fellow project manager and it's great to work together with him. He's very reliable and highly dedicated in supporting Ubuntu and its community. He thinks beyond the idea of an operating system and spends a lot of time to distribute it. His hard work and addiction decisively helped to make the German Ubuntu community to what it is nowadays.
Stefan Betz (encbladexp)
Since about 2007 I know Thorsten, when I joined the team of ubuntuusers.de. Thorsten has always tried to be open for new ideas and suggestions, also communication was an essential component of his work. It is characterized by his devoted work on public events, but also in the team.
Martin Kaufmann
I know Torsten now for many years as a very good Supporter and Ubuntu Enthusiast. He is part of the Loco-De Event-Team and with his strong communication Skills he did a very great Job at the Presentation Booth from the German Ubuntu Community at the Chemnitzer Linuxtage and Linuxtage Berlin. He was also very active in the organization of the german Ubucon. His Strong Contributions ensured that the event was a resounding success. I would like to see Torsten as a Ubuntu Member cause his mentality and his engagement represents the Ubuntu Philosophy.
