Installation
Follow the steps to set up SafeStrap Recovery. Reboot into Recovery and set up RomSlot 4 with a 2GB data partition. Install the final quantal preview of ubuntu rootfs http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch-preview/quantal/monthly-04.1/quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip followed by the phablet image and reboot. (Raring and later versions will not boot.)
Unlocking instructions
The device first needs to be rooted. Use Motofail: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2012/02/11/rooting-the-droid-4-a-failed-bounty-experiment/ (Other root methods may no longer work.)
Motorola devices have a locked bootloader so custom ROMs are installed using SafeStrap Recovery. Details on it's use can be found here: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
