There is hope for mass adoption, hardware manufacturer involvement and professional media production tools. I am interested in improving the quality of free software, so I stay up to date on bugs users of Ubuntu are facing. I am involved in the Ubuntu bugsquad and bugcontrol teams reporting, debugging, confirming, and preforming triage of bugs.
