I think Ubuntu is a great distro... and want to start giving back to the community. I am pretty much self-taught with computers. A short diddy about me...
I love working with computers and am often summoned to fix my friends and families computers. I have run linux for many years... first with Mandrake then with Ubuntu. I have five computers networked with Ubuntu, although one the Family one has windows. I also have one running distro+1 and give my feedback on it as I discover issues. I am pretty much self-taught with computers. I have dabled with PHP and mysql mostly to edit and refactor a php web-based database for my other passion photography.
I think Ubuntu is a great distro... and want to start giving back to the community. I am currently making attempts keeping MeetingLogs and the logs for CC TB, Dev and Motu up to date. I can always use assistance with the numerous other meeting logs.

MeetingSummarySpec is my major focus at this point. I look forward to getting MeetingLogs moving smoothly with summaries of all meetings.
To this end, I have developed a PHP script to scrape [http://people.ubuntu.com/~fabbione/irclogs/ logs]. Anyone interested in this or porting to Python or other language let me know.
My Ideas for Ubuntu:
PackageNamingStandards -- Lets do our best to keep capitalization, spelling, and overall naming of packages and their parts easy to see relations between them.
GraphicalConfigurationSpec -- A modprobe gui similar to KDE's but for gnome would be nice to further tweak with a HAL based wizard to aid in chosing required drivers.
