Lucid Release Status: Bugs (Release Meeting Bugs / RC Milestoned Bugs / Release Targeted Bugs

Release Meeting Bugs (0 bugs) - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/ReleaseStatus/Lucid

Alpha 1 Milestoned Bugs (12 bugs) - https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+bugs?field.milestone%3Alist=21443

Release Targeted Bugs (54 bugs) https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+bugs

Lucid Release Status: Milestoned Features

Milestoned Features - https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+milestone/ubuntu-10.04

There was a discussion between pgraner, apw and ogasawara about our ability to keep up with the Milestoned and Release bugs this cycle. apw pointed out that we are tracking them better using a kernel-lucid tag and that we will be trying to keep them more under control. We may need to pull people in to attack them if necessary.

The big complaint last cycle was we had lots of bugs like that but we never touched them.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-kernel-decision (apw)

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/kernel-lucid-kernel-decision

Just waitng on publication of the decision. That is expected to occur by the end of the week.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-bug-handling (ogasawara)

Finished drafting spec. Should be ready for Review and then Approval.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-sru-policy-review (smb, ogasawara)

Documentation done. just waits on publication (done in one, no action needed). We plan a combined annoucenment update email at the end of the week.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-review-of-ubuntu-delta (apw)

We have dropped a bunch of old cruft patches. We are moving on onto the 'review items' now. Next is pulling up drivers ... starting with AA

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-kernel-config-review (apw)

This is nearly complete, again announcement is pending. There is a the config checker outstanding there.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-kms (sconklin)

The web pages are up to date - discussion is ongoing about how to include nouveau. The review of nouveau is pretty hideous, likely a backports module apprach will be needed.

Will that mean its own drm stack? Yes, nouveau requires that all of drm-next be brought in.

The question was asked if we need to support 3rd party builds as this would require kernel headers being fixed up by the lbm package. The answer is no we don't support them. Users will have -nv and binary drivers to fall back to if necessary.

=== Blueprints: kernel-lucid-suspend-resume (manjo) == No status update, manjo has the day off.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-apparmor-development (jjohansen)

Next posting should go out this Thursday. ec2 and thankgiving ate all cycles last week. We have a plan for pulling in the current version into lucid as soon as its ready to post.

Blueprints: kernel-lucid-boot-performance (apw, csurbhi)

Doing tests to see if populate_rootfs can be executed in parallel and if we get any speedup by doing the same. Had a good result today. This test was done with a vanilla 2.6.31 kernel. This cut the kernel boot time by approx. 2 seconds. The patches are being applied to a Lucid kernel for additional testing.

jjohansen started looking at upstartifying the apparmour init script but has not gotten very far.

Other Release Tasks: Lucid Audio Support (bjf)

We started working today on Audio crack of the day build work. We are starting with the work rtg did for karmic-lbm.

Other Release Tasks: Lucid Better Power Mgt (amitk)

amitk has been doing some baseline idle power measurements on his laptop waiting on reference HW from pgraner. We will be using the Dell Mini 10V was suggested - with and w/o SSD as our reference HW. Next steps is to define the set of usecases we care about for measurements

amitk will get with keybuk to discuss his automated tests for boot speed and how they might be adapted to help with power work.

Other Release Tasks: EC2 Lucid Kernel Status (jjohansen)

Updated to latest patchset, apw packaged it into a ppa, everything tested out so apw is going to roll out to the archive. jjohansen still has to do some config updates to get EC2 closer to the virtual kernel configs but we are closer than we were in Karmic.

Status: Lucid (apw)

lucid we are mostly waiting on 2.6.32. Otherwise a few security items coming.

Security & bugfix kernels - Karmic/Jaunty/Intrepid/Hardy/Others (smb)

No current change. Security update nearby. Karmic SRU update follows closely.

Incoming Bugs: Regressions (ogasawara)

Current regression stats:

Note that the majority of regression-potential bugs have now become regression-release bugs which accounts for the larger delta this week

Incoming Bugs: Bug day report (ogasawara)

Next bug day will be Tues Dec 8. I'll send email later this week.

Open Discussion or Questions:

Nothing came up.
