Introduction
Welcome to the Wiki of the Ubuntu Kylin Desktop Project. The objective of the Ubuntu Kylin project is to create a variant of Ubuntu that is more suitable for Chinese users. We are committed to provide you with a delicate, thoughtful and fully customized Chinese user experience out-of-the-box. For instance, by providing a desktop user interface localized in Chinese and installing common software that Chinese users commonly use by default. Ubuntu Kylin is a formal member of the Ubuntu family, commencing with Ubuntu Kylin 13.04. Since then, we have released 15 versions including 4 LTS versions: 14.04 LTS,16.04 LTS,18.04 LTS and 20.04 LTS.

In Ubuntu Kylin 13.04, we provided:
Online Music Search on Dash: Simpler and more convenient music search by aggregating data from music websites in China, to help you find the latest, most hot Chinese pop songs.
Chinese Calendar: Ease of use, contains the traditional lunar calendar and the Gregorian calendar to facilitate inquiries holidays, in line with Chinese using habit.
Weather Indicator: The weather forecast information from China meterological administration, provide effective references for your daily life and travel.
- Chinese Input Method: As you known, both fcitx and iBus are wonderful Chinese input methods, while we decide to choose fcitx as the default due to following reasons:
- it is the first Chinese input method in open source community since 2002, and it has lots of fans in China, especially guys using Wubi method.
- it provides more efficient and intelligent input experience.
- it provides skin options and more developing input engines, such as cloud-pinyin and google-pinyin.
- Compatibility between Fcitx and Unity is improving gradually. E.g., the latest update of NUX makes it possible to input Chinese words in Dash.
Fans are working to make it better, such as GTK+ show, Indicator show, etc.

- Cooperation with WPS
What is WPS: The most popular office suite in China, including WPS Writer, WPS Presentation and WPS Spreadsheets. More information see: http://www.wps.cn/.
The default office is LibreOffice, while you can find and install WPS at Website of Ubuntu Kylin.

We work our best but there is still a long way to go. Don't be frustrated if you found Ubuntu Kylin broken in some way. Instead please learn how to report a bug and help us improve Ubuntu Kylin, that is how Open Source works and why Open Source exists. If you're not sure whether the problem you found is actually a bug, please ask in our user forum before reporting a bug, by avoiding reporting invalid bugs or duplicate bugs, you're saving developers' limited time. But if you're sure you found a bug, don't be shy to report it!
