Ubuntu Help and Support IRC Channel:
We are an open team and anyone can join us to learn and teach how to contribute to the Ubuntu community. Help the community and make new friends by joining the Beginners Team. 
Please visit our IRC channel #ubuntu-beginners-team on Freenode to talk and learn more about the Beginners team. You can also use ourBeginners Team mailing list to introduce yourself and ask your questions about helping out in the community. We recommend all members join the mailing list.

If you are interested in joining the Ubuntu Beginners Team, we recommend following these steps.
Read the Beginners Team front page and mission statement and familiarize yourself with our goals and values.
Once ready to join visit our Launchpad page and sign up here
Subscribe to the mailing list to ensure that you remain up-to-date with what the team is doing. We also use the mailing list to ask and answer questions from members.
Add yourself to Who We Are Page
We have what we call community paths. These are places you can find information about the different areas of the community and the steps you can take to get started on your journey to join that area of the community
Come hang out with us in the Internet Relay Chat channel #ubuntu-beginners-team on Freenode, most members are active in the channel and it's a good way to introduce yourself and meet us all quickly. You can also take a look at our irc guide which has a selection of chat clients and reviews our rules for using irc. If you find a lot of people away from their computers and the IRC channel a little slow use our mailing list as sure way to reach out to the team.
If you are not sure about joining the Beginners Team, please come by our IRC channel #ubuntu-beginners-team on freenode or send us an email on the mailing list we will be more then happy to answer any questions you might have.

Have an account on Launchpad
Have a wiki page describing yourself and your contributions. For help on creating an Ubuntu wiki page See here. this page will be important not only to introduce yourself to others but also to document your community contributions.
We are adopting a system where all members will be more accessible to help with questions and concerns. If you want to know more about a topic please post the question on our mailing list. This will gain the most exposure across the most members. We also recommend asking in our IRC channel (actually I recomend this frist). If in IRC you do not get an immediate answer dont give up. Sometimes it takes a while for members to log in and see your message. Many members have a persistent IRC connection to catch all questions, answers, and conversations. We are just starting to transition to this new system. Please help us decide what works and what does not. Our main goal is to help members get involved in the community and learn as much as possible about Ubuntu. Our hope is that new members will gain knowledge and continue to pass the knowlede on to upcoming Ubuntu users.
