Jaunty Jackalope Alpha 6がリリースされました

将来のUbuntu 9.04に当たるJaunty JackalopeのAlpha 6版のリリースがアナウンスされました。Alpha 6とはJauntyの開発サイクルの中で6番目のマイルストーンとしてリリースされるCDイメージのことです。Alpha 6のCDイメージは、CDビルドやインストーラーを停止させるバグが完全ではないものの満足が行く程度に除去された、Jauntyのごく最近のスナップショットです。CDイメージは以下のリンク先からダウンロードできます。

正式リリース以前のJauntyは安定したシステムを必要とする方や、頻繁にシステムが破壊されることに不快感を感じる方の使用は *推奨しません*。しかしながら、Ubuntuの開発者や、テストやバグの報告、さらにはその解決を手助けしたい方々にはこのAlpha 6の利用を勧めています。

Ubuntu Testing Day: Notify-OSD

Ubuntu Testing Dayは、次の月曜日（訳注：これは3月16日のことであり、Notify-OSDに対するTesting Dayは終了しています）に行われます。Ubuntu Testing DayはUbuntuコミュニティが、特定のISOイメージ（Alpha, Beta, RC, リリース版、あるいはポイントリリース）をテストするという一つの目標に向かって、特定の機能、あるいは検証を必要とするバグに立ち向かう特別な日です。Ubuntu Bug Dayと同じ考え方で、Ubuntu Testing Dayは同じ考え方をISOイメージのテストに振り向けます。

バグトラックメール用のGmailフィルタ

Launchpadでバグを取り扱う際、Gmailを通して関連するメールを受け取る時は、どうするのが良いのでしょうか？　1つの特定のフォルダに大量のメールを集めることは、やっかいな問題を孕んでいます。Launchpad blogの著者は、この問題への解決策を見つけました。彼はこうしたメールをフォルダに自動的に分類するため、フィルタを作成することにしました。こうすることにより、あちこちを探さなくても簡単にメールを見つけ出し、バグに対応できるようになります。彼の汎用的なチュートリアルは、他の状況にも適用できるかもしれません。これは彼が取り組んだ解決策です。彼がどのような方法で問題を解決したのかは、次のリンクで語られています。

Launchpad AJAXスプリントの成果

このところ、LaunchpadとCanonicalの他の部署の何名かがベルリンで、LaunchpadにYUI 3（Yahoo UI Library）を用いたJavaScriptインターフェースを追加するために集まりました。このスプリントはきわめて上手くいき、全に機能する4つのYUI 3ウィジェット（しかもテストスイートとデモビデオ付き！）が作られました。以下がその概要です。

  • 1日目の朝は、活を入れるためにコンセプトを実証するビデオを見て、キックオフを行いました。この日の終わりには8人のスプリント参加者が4つのペアに別れ、各ペアでウィジェットの開発に取りかかりました。
  • 2日目は、4つのペアがそれぞれのアプローチを検討しました。そしてコードの海にダイブしました。
  • 3日目は、プログラミングとテストに明け暮れ、そして初めて動作するウィジェットが完成しました。
  • 4日目の昼までには、見た目こそ問題があるものの、残りのウィジェットも機能するようになりました。午後はほとんど、ウィジェットに華麗な見た目を加える為にはどうしたらよいかについてのレビューに使われました。
  • 5日目には全員が大きな成果を上げました。ちょっとした問題は残されましたが、4つのウィジェットともにきちんと動作しました。午後はバグつぶしに使われました。

フランス国家憲兵隊： Ubuntuを採用することで数百万ユーロを節約できました
