The purposes of this team are to set up and maintain the team servers, to provide an educational experience to people who are interested in Linux server technologies (from set up to maintaining and managing), and to provide projects that will not only help them learn more about Linux servers but will also assist the Ubuntu-Arizona Local Community Team to develop.
New Server Donated to Team (02/04/09)
Shane Lofgren donated a new/used server to the team as a test server. It is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with 2x Dual Core Intel Xeon 2.80GHz processors, 2x 75GB hard drives, 4GB ram, CD drive, and 2 power supplies. The server is in perfect working order, and has Lucid Lynx LTS installed.
Second Server Donated to Team (02/10/09)
Shane Lofgren donated a second new/used server to the team. It is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with 1x Dual Core Intel Xeon 2.80GHz processors, 16X2 GB hard drives, 1GB ram, CD drive, and 2 power supplies. The server is in perfect working order, and has Precise Pangolin LTS 12.04 installed.
Third Server Donated to Team (07/14/12)
Todd Cole has just donated a third new/used server to the team. It is a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 8GB Ram, 500gb Sata with parts from across the team. The server is in perfect working condition and has Precise Pangolin LTS 12.04 installed. It is set up as a Virtual Machine Server using Proxmox Virtual Environment as a test platform to train members in virtual machine management and the ability to issue virtual machines to learn, test, and develop.
Fourth Server Donated to Team (07/14/16)
We have migrated to 2 Proxmox servers and are able maintain backup and issue new servers both KVM and LXC-D containers as needed, as well as host our own Next Cloud accounts and our own webpage.
Current Server Set-up
Team Server: Supports the Team website and any Arizona Linux User Group that requires and asks for assistance. Currently all Arizona LUGs host their own website but the capability to provide them assistance is always there depending upon their specific needs. It is a Ubuntu container LXD and is hosted by Mark Thomas.
Next Cloud Server: Supports our team member Next Cloud accounts. It is a Ubuntu container LXD and is hosted by Todd Cole.
Big Blue Button Server: Supports the Big Blue Button at Team IRC meetings and can be used for lectures, presentations, and demonstrations when a physical presence is not required or easily achieved. It has Ubuntu 16.04 and is hosted by Walter Mack.
Installation Server: Contains 200 plus ISOs and supports our installation efforts at Installfests. It is obviously portable and is set up at all Phoenix area Installfests to enhance the ability to assist the visiting public in the installing their desired Linux distribution. It has Ubuntu 18.04 and is hosted by Todd Cole.
Our mission is to use Ubuntu servers to educate and support the Ubuntu Arizona Local Community Team and Arizona Linux User Groups.
