ApprovalApplication2011

Ubuntu California is a group of volunteers who advocate and promote Ubuntu and Free Software in California. We attend and plan events statewide, contact and work with LUGs and other local groups, and act as the public face of the Ubuntu community in California. The group is open to everybody in the state with an interest in spreading and discussing Ubuntu.

  • "The Solano Stroll event is a ~ mile long street fair held once a year in Berkeley California on Solano Ave. There are over 500 vendor and non-profit booths. Attendees are ordinary folks from the Berkeley/SF-Bay area who may or may not have a technical background. It is, thus, a good opportunity to advertise Ubuntu to a general audience."

  • "Similar to our booth at the Solano Stroll, we are going to be mostly demoing Ubuntu on various hardware and distributing Ubuntu discs, brochures and pamphlets. Additionally, we are located next to the Fixit Clinic - and the organizer is encouraging people to bring in old laptops etc... to try Ubuntu on. If he repairs their computer hardware, we can give them an Ubuntu disc to take home with them."
